  • The Green Valley Library and Cultural Center contains an 80,000 volume library, art gallery, sculpture garden, and a community meeting room. Thick exterior walls, narrow recessed windows and deep porches mitigate the effects of the desert sun.
  • The plan organization was developed by placing the supervising librarian at the circulation desk at the center point of five radii that extend through each major program function. The entry radius begins with a shade pavilion which acts both as a link to the remainder of the 10 acre site and as the first element in the hierarchical entry progression.
  • Seven windows by glass artist Ed Carpenter are installed in the rotunda. The interior of this grand space is enlivened with the introduction of color, texture and patterning, ever changing depending on the amount and quality of light entering the building.
