KFA worked with Ace Hotel, the hip boutique chain based in Portland, on their newest project located in downtown Los Angeles’ historic core. The project is an adaptive reuse of the United Artists Building on Broadway, and includes a 13-story tower and historic theater, built in 1927 by Hollywood icons Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, and Charlie Chaplin.

The former office building, with its iconic filigreed tower, has been converted to 180 hotel rooms with a ground floor restaurant and bar, a rooftop lounge, and a pool, all styled with Ace’s signature hip aesthetic. The theater, one of Broadway’s many historic movie palaces with an elaborate Spanish Gothic interior in near-pristine original condition, is being used as a venue to host concerts for hotel guests and the greater downtown community. Along with the Portland Ace team, KFA worked on the project design with GREC Architects of Chicago, Commune interior design, and the project’s developer, Greenfield Partners.

Tacos Mexico

Tacos Mexico

Tacos Mexico is the quintessential taco stand (truly – standing only) at the edge of a downtown parking lot. The food is good, it’s cheap, and don’t forget the defining red sauce in the condiments area.
