KFA was hired by Clarett West Development to oversee the design and development of the restoration, adaptive reuse, and upgrades to the historic Taft Building. The renovation repositions the landmark property as a premier creative office space, while preserving the neo-Renaissance architecture to ensure that it continues to glimmer with history and character. Killefer Flammang Architects lead the redesign of the space, carefully balancing modern amenities and functions within the historic property.
The 12-story Taft Building was constructed in 1923 on the southeast corner of Hollywood and Vine. It housed the offices of many of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars including Charlie Chaplin and Will Rogers as well as the headquarters for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Today, the building continues to attract entertainment and creative office users.
In addition to structural and seismic upgrades, KFA’s renovation included upgrades to the corridors and building entrance and the incorporation of modern heating and cooling systems. KFA continues to assist in the space planning for individual tenants.
