Loyola High School $100M - 2014

Loyola High School completed its Long Range Strategic Plan in 2000 and then began its Facilities Master Plan to define the specific location for future expansion. While not increasing its enrollment, the school wanted to add a student center, ten classrooms, eight laboratories, performing arts classrooms, administrative offices, basketball/volleyball courts and more athletic fields. Killefer Flammang Architects was asked to show various options for future growth, identify adjacent properties and streets for potential acquisition, clarify pedestrian and vehicular traffic and tie the campus together with a series of pathways and plazas. The Regents requested that the Collegiate Gothic style be maintained, and with an historical consultant, KFA wrote a design manual that will guide the design of all future buildings on campus. Four schemes were presented to the Regents and Trustees who chose a direction for growth. The Facilities Master Plan continues to be refined, and since 2000 the historic Loyola and Ruppert Halls have been renovated, the Berendo Building has been transformed into a music and theater center, the 58,000 SF Hannon/Ardolf Science Hall & Academic Center has been completed, and the library has been remodeled into a vital new information commons.
