  • Located in Koreatown, a vibrant and densely populated district in Los Angeles, the developments at Mariposa Ave. and Fedora St. will provide convenient access to a variety of dining spots, nightlife, shopping districts, and the transit stations for the Metro Red and Purple lines. These properties are located adjacent to one another in between Mariposa Ave. and Fedora St., near 8th street and Vermont Ave. As the properties together span the entire width of the block, the buildings are arranged on the site to provide a variety of interconnected open spaces, with courtyards and shared common areas that connect throughout the site.
  • The buildings step back in massing as they increase in height, allowing for generous roof deck spaces that provide plenty of common open space for the residents and spectacular views of the LA skyline. Both structures are defined by a duality in the design concept that reads clearly in the elevation: the lower massing of the buildings’ design references the average building height in the neighborhood as well as the ornate masonry detailing commonly found in the facades; while the upper portion of the buildings’ design is contrasted with a modern metal skin and smooth plaster finishes. The resulting design represents a study in a symmetrical, ordered facade that is transformed into a more random and sleek structure at the upper levels.
