• Permanent supportive housing with integrated services: 73 studio and one-bedroom apartments serve formerly unhoused veterans earning 30–50% AMI, paired with on-site amenities including community rooms, a classroom, fitness center, and outdoor courtyards that support resident programming and daily use.
• Site-responsive planning within an evolving campus framework: Located at the corner of Bonsall and Nimitz Avenues, the project was delivered during early phases of a large-scale campus redevelopment, requiring coordination with shifting infrastructure, street realignments, and adjacent development.
• Courtyard-centered design that enhances livability: Residential units are organized around landscaped courtyards that bring daylight, ventilation, and shared outdoor space into the building, supporting resident comfort and opportunities for connection.
• Contextual architecture with consistent expression on all sides: With no traditional rear elevation, the building presents a cohesive architectural identity from every viewpoint, drawing on the scale, proportions, and material character of the historic campus while integrating building systems in a discreet and efficient manner.

Hammer Museum

• The Hammer Museum in Westwood features a postmodern design inspired by a Renaissance palazzo, with galleries organized around a quiet interior courtyard and a restrained marble façade that balances monumentality with accessibility. Visitors should go for its seamless blend of architecture and culture, where light-filled galleries and evolving contemporary exhibitions create an engaging, walkable experience that connects art, public space, and the surrounding urban fabric.
