Andrea Ortiz Vivas
Andrea was born into a sailing family in Mexico City and raised between the hectic lifestyle of Mexico City and the scenic views of Puerto Vallarta. While growing up, she got into competitive sailing where she proudly represented her country in multiple international events. This allowed her to travel the world and fall in love with the beauty of the built and natural environment, as well as with the unique cultures around the world. This connection that she shares with the natural environment and how her community grew around it made her want to understand how people come together while respecting and protecting our world. Andrea decided to study architecture because she is passionate about the intersection between people, architecture, and the environment. She sees architecture as the bridge that connects people, nature, and culture. Andrea graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2018 with a BFA in Architecture and minor in Architectural History. Since graduation, Andrea has gained vast experience working on large-scale mixed-use projects in California and Miami. She not only worked on designing them, but she also worked collaboratively with the owners and/or developers on bringing their projects to reality. Outside of the architecture world, her other passion has always been sports. Whether she is practicing them or following different athletes, she enjoys being in the loop. She also loves sailing, surfing, windsurfing, running, hiking, and anything else that gets her out in the environment.
