What we have ourselves built, we are at liberty to throw down; but what other men gave their strength and wealth and life to accomplish, their right over does not pass away with their death; still less is the right to use of what they have left vested in us only. It belongs to all their successors.
–John Ruskin, The Lamp of Memory

JENNIFER MACDONALD

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jennifer was fascinated by the built environment from a very early age. After a detour through film school, she found her way into architecture, earning an M.Arch at Cal Poly Pomona. She pursued a concentration in Historic Preservation with the career goal of working in adaptive reuse and the preservation of historic structures. Her early career was spent in San Diego building a separate speciality in complex commercial projects primarily for the Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical sectors. KFA’s expertise in adaptive reuse and preservation is finally giving Jennifer the opportunity to move in the direction of her passion. Outside of work, she’s a member of a hiking club whose goal in life is to hike as many trails as she can before her knees give out. She also spends free time serving as both a volunteer and on the Board of Directors for two non-profits, one advocating for historic preservation and the other empowering disadvantaged women.
