“Landscape architecture is not the sauce you pour over something;
it’s part of the structure of an environment.“ Laurie Olin

Scott Van Sooy, ASLA

Principal

Scott became the managing Principal of the KFA Landscape Architecture group after owning and managing the firm Land Images for 8 years. In addition to project, personnel, and consultant management, Scott has design experience in a wide range of project types. These include public park development and renovation, academic campus planning, academic site development, sports facility development, and mixed-use site development. Scott is passionate about delivering great design that is focused on community enhancement. Scott grew up in suburban Kansas City with a backyard creek as his childhood playground. This likely established his interest in the overlap of nature with the built environment. He studied Engineering and worked in the electronics industry, while fulfilling his love of nature by exploring California’s parks, mountains, coast line, and natural landmarks. Curiosity about the development of trails and parks led him to explore the profession of Landscape Architecture,
which Scott became fascinated with. Scott loves the profession and loves the abundant opportunities that Los Angeles and Southern California have to offer.
