BEYOND THE STATS
- Founded in 1968, Challengers Boys and Girls Club serves over 5000 children in South Los Angeles each year. Our work for the organization began in 1996 with the renovation of the existing facility, a former grocery store, into dance and weight-lifting rooms, and construction of a new attached education and administration building.
- Master planned as part of a full block to be occupied by Challengers Boys and Girls Club, Challengers Tennis Club is the first tennis center to be built in South Los Angeles. The clubhouse, without air conditioning, has large opposing windows for cross ventilation. The second floor viewing deck is shaded by a roof structure covered with photovoltaic panels which generate 100% of the electrical needs of the building and court lighting.
