BEYOND THE STATS
- This LEED certified project features ample use of daylighting to illuminate the large apparatus bay as well as the corridor of the living area. Operable windows allow breezes from the nearby Pacific Ocean to naturally cool the building. A rich palette of exterior materials includes burnished concrete masonry units, phenolic resin panels with a wood veneer and zinc accent panels. The massing of the building reflects the organization of public and private spaces, which include the offices, break room, wellness room, kitchen and dining room.
- The project is designed to allow for firefighters to move quickly from any location in the building to the apparatus bay for rapid emergency response.

USS Iowa
Built in 1940, and designated the “World’s Greatest Naval Ship” due to her big guns, heavy armor, and fast speed. No other battleship in the nation’s history has been host to more U.S. Presidents.
