Fire Station 87
Los Angeles, CA Northridge
- Client : City of Los Angeles
- Cost : $7.2M
- Size : 25,000 SF
- Completion Date : 2008
BEYOND THE STATS
- The design of Fire Station 87 includes a large two-story central space comprised of offices, daybreak room, training room, kitchen and dining room on the ground floor and dormitories and locker rooms on the second floor. Two large apparatus bays flank the central space, and a generous gable roof encloses the majority of the functions. A tower at the entry punctuates the gable and announces this public facility to the neighborhood.
- Large operable windows and clerestories allow ample natural light to filter into the building and are one of several sustainable features that contribute to the project meeting a LEED certified level.
