BEYOND THE STATS
- The former Immanuel Church, located on the corner of Obispo and 3rd in Long Beach, has been revitalized and restored to provide apartments for low-income seniors and one onsite manager’s unit.
- The church’s sanctuary space has been repurposed as a community room, with a kitchen, library, and the restored pipe organ. Residents have a gym, laundry facilities, and access to senior services, adult education and health and awareness programs.
- In addition to the adaptive reuse of the church, the project included the removal of an adjacent 1920s Craftsman home to make room for the new parking lot. The historic home was transported to a vacant lot in Long Beach for reuse.
