BEYOND THE STATS
- Land Images was the prime design consultant for the Dartmouth Avenue “re-purposing” project. Part of the Pomona College campus wide parking and vehicular consolidation program, this project transformed previous streets and parking areas into open space for student use.
- Located at a busy confluence, between historic dormitories, an educational dance facility, and recreation areas, multi-purpose open space was created for a variety of uses.
- Gatherings from large barbecues to individual study sessions, from outdoor dance performances to student relaxation are all supported, integrated to respect the historic nature of the surrounding buildings.
- A judicious use of lawn allows for informal recreation, contrasted with surrounding drought tolerant and native planting to comply with the City’s stringent Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance.
- This project received a 2013 “Excellence in Design” award by the City of Claremont Architectural Commission.
