BEYOND THE STATS

• This affordable senior housing project is located in South LA’s burgeoning Crenshaw Corridor, which is receiving a light rail line along most of its length between the Expo Line and LAX.
• The project went through an extensive conceptual design phase that focused on sustainability and quality of life for residents. The resultant design is centered along a linear courtyard that is open on both ends and programmed for active walking.
• The project’s architecture takes its cues from the Crenshaw Corridor’s history of Art Deco architecture from the 1930s and 1940s, including the historic Baldwin Hills Mall and the Vision Theater on the Leimert Park plaza.
